Henry Gates is an active artist and retired psychologist and minister. He owns a studio in Boston, dwells at his Cambridge home, and operates a house by MASS MoCA, crossing the State where he's lived some fifty years.
In the above photo, we invite you to visit Henry Gates’ art studio. The art and pastels of the studio may be portable to your church, bringing art materials for inquisitive people to claim their creativity and explore visual dimensions of faith with Henry Gates.

Personal words from henry
My passion for art is not my career, rather a vocation. Indeed, art is play and creation, even invocation.
I was guided early by teachers: 7th grade “You’ll be an artist!”. In high school, I made the art store a shrine. In higher education, I am told: “You are the most excited student”; “You have equal capacity for the verbal and the visual”, and “You are the most creative one”.
For 55 years I’ve had a private space to make art; not to master one medium, but to explore a range of media, size and subjects. I thrive in creativity, art history and aesthetics. I believe in the amateur, which means ‘one is love’.
I am now able to share this with you; at your place or by coming by to visit my studio!
